Ramiele Malubay, based out of Miami, Florida, has been singing and performing since a young age. Malubay is notably known for successfully auditioning and becoming a part of the television show, American Idol (Season 7). On the show, she received rave reviews for her performances and finished ninth place. After American Idol, Ramiele toured with American Idol Season 7 Top 10 Finalists, toured the Philippines, appeared on several television shows in the United States, and performed the American National Anthem for the Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto fight at the MGM Grand Las Vegas. Asides from performances, Ramiele has also been able to return to school to complete her nursing degree which she has desired to complete – prior to being a part of American Idol.

As a gift to all of her fans and supporters over the years, Ramiele brings the holiday spirit in the Christmas EP, This Time of Year. Ramiele states, “I’ve always wanted to release a Christmas album and I really hope that people do enjoy it, as much as the team and I enjoyed creating it.” The EP includes favorite Christmas hits, such as ‘Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas’, ‘The Christmas Song’, ‘O Holy Night’, and a duet with R&B singer Russy Isberto for ‘Baby It’s Cold Outside’. With the craft of producer/songwriter, Elvin Reyes and songwriter, Manilene Ginelsa, the EP features an upbeat original titled, ‘Holidays Are Here’ and the title song, This Time of Year. Chris Baldomero and Anthony Ancheta of Breakstone Productions, along with Elvin Reyes are featured producers who will be working on Ramiele’s full-length album to be released in 2015.

FILIPINOS IN ENTERTAINMENT AND MEDIA TO SHARE INSIGHT WITH UC BERKELEY’S FIL-AM COMMUNITY

Professionals will address issues about Filipino visibility in mainstream media with students at UC Berkeley
LOS ANGELES (February 20, 2014) — Los Angeles-based organization FilAm Creative and UC Berkeley’s Asian Pacific American Student Development (APASD) group, will host a “Pilipin@s in Entertainment and Media” panel discussion on Saturday, March 1, 2014 from 3:30 to 6 p.m. at 56 Barrows on campus. The event will address issues of both misrepresentation and under-representation of Filipino Americans in the mainstream media.

Professionals in film, music, television, broadcast media, and comedy will share their experiences, achievements, and struggles as Filipinos in their careers. The audience, which is expected to be made up of mostly college students, will get a chance to ask the panelists questions, learn about opportunities in entertainment and media, as well as build their network of contacts.
Panelists include Christina Luna (The Luna Company, Founder/Manager), Joey Guila (Comedian/TV Show Host), Keesa Ocampo (Corporate Affairs, ABS-CBN International), Rex Sampaga (Music Publisher), and Walter Boholst (Filmmaker/Entertainment Lawyer/FilAm Creative Co-Founder). Additional panelists may also be added prior to the event.

Moderating the discussion is Melissa Arce, a FilAm Creative board member and the event’s producer. “After two successful panel discussions in Southern California, FilAm Creative is excited to bring the event to college students up north,” said Arce. “I enjoy putting these panels together because of a sense of camaraderie and a motivation to push passed the identity barriers in entertainment and media.”

The collaborative effort by APASD and the Filipino American student organizations at UC Berkeley – Pilipin@ Community Council (PCC), Pilipin@ American Alliance (PAA), Partnership for Pre-Professional Pilipin@s (P4), and {m}aganda Magazine – is what makes this event possible. Aldrin Carreon, APASD Programs Intern and Pilipin@ Community Council Chair (2012 – 13), is who approached Arce about the panel. “I believe bringing this event to UC Berkeley is not only an opportunity for our community to collaborate on programming, but to engage with a topic that is so prevalent in our time and bring to light issues – from oppression to misrepresentation – we as Pilipin@s must endure on a daily basis,” stated Carreon.

Join Ron Quesada and The Luna Company for a special Kulintronica launch event, at 5:00pm on December 29, 2013 hosted by Pa’ina Lounge and Restaurant, 1865 Post Street San Francisco, California. Traditional meets transitional at this anticipated performance by Ron combining music, dance, lights and the energy of the live crowd. Ron Quesada is a musician and producer from the San Francisco Bay Area who has fused the ‘Kulintang’, which is an ancient Filipino gong instrument with modern electronic dance music. Ron has created a sound all his own which he has called ‘Kulintronica’. Audiences have begun to follow Ron’s new sound, as he continues to tour festivals, venues and special concert performances all throughout the United States. “Calling My Name” is Ron Quesada’s first independent single release, in anticipation of a full length album release for Summer of 2014.
